Mumbai, April 13: On the occasion of the upcoming birth anniversary of           Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on April 14, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organized the 'Jai Bhim Padyatra' on April 13 as a tribute to Dr. Ambedkar. For the first time, a historic march was held simultaneously in all major state capitals across the country, marking an important milestone in a national celebration.

In Mumbai, the padyatra was led by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mrs. Raksha Khadse. More than 2,000 volunteers from MyBharat participated in the march, which began at Nariman Point and concluded at the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar near the Mantralaya (State Secretariat). This padyatra symbolized the values of social justice, equality, and fraternity.

Speaking at the event, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports           Mrs. Khadse said, “It is extremely important for the younger generation to be aware of the thoughts and ideals of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. His contributions to our nation are invaluable, and we are proud of the new direction he gave to society. Celebrating his birth anniversary is our duty, but more importantly, we must imbibe and carry forward his thoughts in our lives.”

During the event, National Youth Award winners, MLAs, and young achievers were felicitated. The march featured several inspiring initiatives such as 'Shraddhanjali Kopare' displaying Dr. Ambedkar's thoughts, cultural performances on the streets centered on social justice, and 'Pledge Points' which further elevated the spirit of the event.

The program concluded with a symbolic cleanliness drive around Dr. Ambedkar’s statue near Mantralaya, which was simultaneously conducted in other cities across the country. At the district level as well, floral tribute ceremonies and cleanliness drives were held.

The 'Jai Bhim Padyatra' was the ninth of 24 monthly marches organized as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations related to the Indian Constitution. These padyatras aim to connect the youth of India with the fundamental values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity championed by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
