Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar
Mumbai, April 20: As part of the Constitution Amrit Mahotsav and the 134th birth anniversary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, a grand cultural event titled “Jagar Samvidhanacha – Gaurav Vishwratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar” was held at the historic Gateway of India. This musical program was more than just a cultural celebration — it was a tribute to the values and principles of the Indian Constitution, igniting social consciousness.
Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar stated that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s thoughts and the constitutional values he introduced are guiding principles for the world. These ideals will be brought to the global platform through seminars and research papers at leading universities in the USA and Europe.
The event, organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, was inaugurated by Minister Ashish Shelar. It was graced by the presence of Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, MLA Sanjay Upadhyay, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, former ministers Vijay alias Bhai Girkar and Raj Purohit, Additional Chief Secretary of the Chief Minister’s Office and Cultural Affairs Department Vikas Kharge, Director of Cultural Affairs Vibhishan Chavare, along with renowned personalities from the film, theatre, and music industries and numerous citizens.
Minister Shelar emphasized that this program is a part of the cultural department’s initiative to commemorate 75 years of the Constitution. Across the state, various activities like seminars, readings of the Preamble, and “Samvidhan Gharoghari” (Constitution at every home) are being held. He reaffirmed the department’s resolve to present Dr. Ambedkar’s ideology and the Indian Constitution in academic institutions around the world.
Held in the presence of thousands at the iconic Gateway of India with the Arabian Sea as a witness, the program featured an enchanting blend of drama, music, and dance.
Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik and Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge also shared their thoughts. The event was hosted by noted actor Subodh Bhave.
