Mumbai: Senior Journalist Kashinath Mhade from Dainik Punya Nagari has been announced as a recipient of the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh’s Investigative Journalism Award. Mhade began his journalism career with Sakal and went on to work with Belgaum Tarun Bharat, Navshakti, ETV Bharat, and Pudhari, leaving a notable mark through his work.
On the occasion of the association’s Foundation Day, the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh annually announces several prestigious journalism awards. This year’s awardees include veteran journalists and editors Prakash Kulkarni, Vidyadhar Date, Suraj Sawant, Kashinath Mhade, Pradeep Dhivar, and Shivram Manjrekar. The awards now enter their 35th year.

The award selection committee comprised senior journalists Pratima Joshi, Yogesh Bidwai, and Abhijit Mule. According to association president Sandeep Chavan, each award includes a cash prize of ₹10,000, a memento.
The awards will be presented during the 84th Foundation Day celebration of the Patrakar Sangh, which will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 6:00 PM, at Patrakar Bhavan, Azad Maidan, Mumbai 400001. Veteran journalist and India Today consulting editor Rajdeep Sardesai will be the chief guest and keynote speaker at the event.
Additionally, journalists who have completed 65 years of age will be conferred with honorary membership and honorary associate membership of the Patrakar Sangh.
This year’s awardees are as follows:
Padmashri Yamunatai Khadilkar Memorial Award for Investigative Journalism: Jointly awarded to Mr. Suraj Sawant and Mr. Kashinath Mhade
Kavivarya Prof. Bhalchandra Khandekar Award (for a veteran proofreader in print media): Mr. Shivram Manjrekar
Samatanand Anant Hari Gadre Award (for long-standing work in journalism with a sense of social responsibility): Mr. Prakash Kulkarni
Adv. Adhik Shirodkar Sponsored Tolaram Kukreja Photojournalism Award (for a photojournalist’s long-term contribution): Mr. Pradeep Dhivar
Yugarambhakar Sarvodayi Activist Madhusudan Sitaram Ravkar Memorial Award (for a senior journalist/editor): Mr. Vidyadhar Date
