MP Sanjay Dina Patil’s Demand Succeeds; 17,000 Sleeper Coaches to be Manufactured

Mumbai, 21st June (Correspondent) – Member of Parliament from North-East Mumbai representing the Maha Vikas Aghadi, Sanjay Dina Patil, had raised a demand in Parliament that the number of general and sleeper coaches in long-distance trains should be increased. In accordance with his demand, the Railway Department is set to manufacture 17,000 sleeper coaches in the coming period. This information was shared by Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh, through an official letter.

MP Sanjay Dina Patil had raised this issue under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha on December 17 last year, stating that the Railway Ministry is considering reducing the number of general and sleeper coaches in long-distance trains in order to increase the number of air-conditioned coaches. He argued that if this happens, it would become expensive for common passengers to travel by train, thereby increasing their financial burden. Therefore, instead of increasing the number of air-conditioned coaches, the number of general and sleeper coaches should be increased, he demanded in the Lok Sabha.

In response to MP Sanjay Dina Patil’s demand, Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh informed through a letter that 17,000 sleeper coaches will be added in the coming period. As a result, common citizens will be able to travel at affordable rates, and their financial burden will not increase. This information was shared by MP Sanjay Dina Patil.
