Republican leader Avinash Mahatekar raises a hard-hitting question
Mumbai : The allegation by UBT Sena , MNS , Congress party’s Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi, about increased voting is completely baseless, stated Republican Party’s National General Secretary and Spokesperson Avinash Mahatekar while speaking to the media. He posed a pointed question — “What exactly was the role of UBT Sena , MNS , Congress and its allies’ polling agents during the elections? Did Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party UBT Sena , MNS , not trust their own polling agents?”Mahatekar explained, that in every election, to prevent bogus voting, the Election Commission summons polling agents from all concerned political parties to verify voter identities. On polling day, these agents verify the identity of each voter, after which the election officer completes all necessary checks before allowing the voter to cast their ballot. “If there really was excess voting in the last Assembly elections, why did the polling agents of Congress and its allies not raise any objections? This is a matter that warrants serious consideration,” said Mahatekar.
He further added that, keeping in mind the Bihar Assembly elections and the upcoming local body and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in Maharashtra, the Congress party is deliberately playing politics over the ‘excess voting’ issue merely to mislead voters.
