U.S. Consulate Delegation Visits Maharashtra State Emergency Operations Center



Delegation led by Consul General Mike Hankey reviews disaster management operations

Mumbai, May 15: A high-level delegation from the U.S. Consulate, led by Consul General Mike Hankey, visited the Maharashtra State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) to gain insights into the state’s disaster response and management system. During the visit, Sonia Sethi, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Relief, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management, gave a detailed presentation outlining the operations of the center.

The visit was also attended by Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, SEOC Director Satishkumar Khadke, Under Secretaries Sanjeev Rane and Ratansingh Pardeshi.

The delegation was informed that the center plays a critical role in delivering effective emergency responses during disasters. Advanced technologies such as Geographic Information System (GIS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are being utilized for preparedness based on the vulnerability mapping of various regions in the state.

The U.S. delegation appreciated the functioning and preparedness of the State Emergency Operations Center and commended the efforts being made by the state in disaster management.

The visiting delegation included Consul General Mike Hankey, Regional Security Office Chief Mario Retta, Special Envoy Josh Mangnum, Head of Regional Affairs Rob Redemeyer, Chief of American Citizen Services Mrs. Stacey Baugh, and Specialist in Consular Services Kenneth D'Mello.
