Vikhroli :To draw attention to the potholes on internal roads of Kannamwar Nagar, social activist Dr. Yogesh Bhalerao organized a “Pothole-Free Diwali” protest on the night of October 20.
As part of the demonstration, he drew rangoli (decorative designs) around the potholes and lit lamps on them to express his protest symbolically.
The roads in Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli, have become full of potholes. Even though the monsoon is over, no repair work has been carried out. These potholes have become a serious danger to the lives of residents, students, senior citizens, pregnant women, and two-wheeler or rickshaw drivers. The authorities, however, have ignored the issue.
“We held a peaceful protest to highlight this negligence,” said Dr. Bhalerao.
The protest took place at Janata Market, one of the worst-affected areas along the main road of Kannamwar Nagar. Due to administrative apathy, many local problems have arisen, causing severe inconvenience to residents.
“We will continue our efforts until these issues are resolved,” Dr. Bhalerao added.
