TKM has been at the forefront of continues to accelerate transition toward carbon neutrality, by going beyond products, embedding sustainable practices in manufacturing operations and across their entire value chain.

New Vehicle Zero CO₂ Emissions

India's rapidly expanding vehicle population contributes significantly to CO₂ emissions. To counter that, TKM is pioneering a multi-pathway electrification approach with expansion of xEV portfolio, including Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (SHEVs), Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) as well as alternate fuel driven vehicle powertrain. Through localization of green technology, the company is making clean mobility affordable and accessible across India's diverse economic landscape while developing Electrified Flex-Fuel Vehicles (EFFV) that address India's biofuel integration goals.

Decarbonizing the Mobility Ecosystem

Recognizing that India's complex supply chain networks and logistics infrastructure contributing to carbon emissions throughout the vehicle lifecycle, TKM has implemented comprehensive green supply chain initiatives with stringent supplier ESG compliance requirements. TKM’s eco-dealership networks reduce environmental impact across customer touchpoints while green logistics operations minimize transportation-related emissions across the entire value chain.

Adoption of Green Energy

Addressing India's industrial manufacturing sector's heavy reliance on fossil fuel-based energy, TKM has achieved 100% renewable grid electricity across all manufacturing operations. The company is committed to carbon-neutral manufacturing operations by 2035 with zero CO2 emissions across the entire value chain by 2050. It is also adopting energy-efficient technologies that reduce specific energy consumption year-on-year.

Addressing Water Crisis

TKM has achieved 89.3% water requirements fulfilled through rainwater harvesting and water recycling systems. This is in response to India's depleting groundwater levels and increasing industrial water demand. The implementation of zero-liquid discharge factory prevents industrial water contamination. TKM ensures replenishing more water than consumed through community watershed projects, rainwater harvesting and recharge pits

Effective Waste Management

Tackling India's massive industrial and post-consumer waste generation with limited recycling infrastructure, TKM has achieved Zero Waste-to-Landfill status across all manufacturing plants. It maintains an over 96% waste recycling rate through comprehensive 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) implementation. The company actively supports India's Vehicle Scrappage Policy by creating authorized recycling channels for end-of-life vehicles while gearing up towards circular economy initiatives spanning production and post-consumer stages.

Restoring Biodiversity

India's rapid industrialization and urbanization have led to significant biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation. TKM's Toyota Green Wave Project has produced a green cover of 112 acres within the campus – pioneering Miyawaki afforestation in India. It has restored the native ecosystems with 790+ indigenous plant species and 400+ faunal species thriving within TKM premises.
