Efforts to Double Farmers’ Income with the Help of Japanese Technology : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnav



Mumbai, April 7 – Japan aims to bring its advanced technology into the agriculture sector to support one billion people through artificial intelligence-based solutions. The Government of Maharashtra will collaborate with Japan’s M2 Labo organization to work on soil rejuvenation, creation of model farms, and greenhouse technologies. The goal is to empower farmers by reducing malpractices in the marketing chain. Indian farmers will be educated and trained to secure employment opportunities in Japan. The state government is working to double farmers’ income using Japanese technology, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

 

The state government is making various decisions for the development of the agricultural sector. Modern technologies are being used to enrich agriculture, and artificial intelligence-based strategies are being adopted. A dedicated AI policy for agriculture has already been announced. The Chief Minister also called for collaborative work between Japan and Maharashtra in this domain.

 

M2 Labo Japan is an agricultural organization associated with Suzuki and is the first Suzuki-affiliated organization to be registered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The organization’s Chairperson, Yuriko Kato-san, met with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today. During the meeting, the Chief Minister discussed the use of Japanese technology to enhance agriculture in the state.

 

Present at the meeting were M2 Labo’s CEO Yuriko Kato, Mitra Foundation President Sameer Khale, M2 Labo India Managing Director Prasoon Agrawal, Devang Oza, and M2 Labo Japan Manager Masako Miyashita.

 

Yuriko Kato-san works in the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister of Japan and is involved in the implementation of the “Digital Garden City Nation” initiative.

 

During the meeting, the organization expressed its intention to establish a Japanese Center of Excellence in agriculture in Maharashtra under the concept of “M2 Smart Village Labo.” The goal of this initiative is to bring Japanese and Indian companies together in smart farming and promote AI for Sustainable Development (A4SD) under the Society 5.0 vision.

 

The organization also expressed a desire to significantly increase farmers’ income and inspire the youth to pursue agriculture as a career through its “Junior Village” concept. Discussions were also held regarding providing employment opportunities to Indian agricultural workers in Japan, supported by an official permit that the organization has obtained.
