Successful March of Maharashtra Towards Industrial Growth: “Maharashtra Industry Dialogue 2025” Inaugurated at BKC - Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan

 


Mumbai, June 25 – Despite the shadows of war and unrest in many parts of the world, India is moving forward on a development-centric path under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. It is commendable that Maharashtra is engaging in a dialogue focused on industrial and economic growth, said Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan while inaugurating the “Maharashtra Industry Dialogue 2025” organized by MIDC at the Jio Convention Centre, BKC.

The event was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Industries and Marathi Language Minister Dr. Uday Samant, Minister of Protocol and Marketing Jaykumar Rawal, Industries Secretary P. Anbalagan, MIDC CEO P. Velarasu, entrepreneurs from across India, and senior officials of MIDC.



Maharashtra: Leader in Industrial Progress

The Governor remarked that Maharashtra is a leading industrial state, contributing over 14% to India’s GDP. In 202425, Maharashtra attracted ₹1.64 lakh crore in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), accounting for 40% of Indias total FDI. The state has become a startup hub. Referring to recent interactions with startup entrepreneurs, the Governor expressed confidence in the skills of Maharashtra’s youth and said that several developed nations are looking to India to meet their skilled manpower needs.

The Governor also suggested that students should learn foreign languages such as German, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish to enhance global employment opportunities and mentioned that universities have been advised to start such language courses. He added that infrastructure projects like Vadhavan Port and Navi Mumbai International Airport will enhance Maharashtra’s global trade connectivity.

At the World Economic Forum – Davos 2025, Maharashtra signed MoUs worth ₹15.72 lakh crore, expected to generate 15 lakh jobs. With 82.63 lakh registered MSMEs, Maharashtra tops the country in this sector. The Maharashtra Technical Textiles Mission reflects the state’s commitment to innovation.

“We must all step forward together towards a developed Maharashtra. This goal can be achieved through ease of doing business, innovation, and public participation,” said the Governor, urging all stakeholders to actively engage in dialogue.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that Maharashtra’s remarkable progress in the last 10 years was possible due to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing the gathering, he stated:

“The real strength of Maharashtra lies in the mindset and dedication of our entrepreneurs. You are the ones shaping the state's progress.”

He cited facts such as Maharashtra’s 14% share in national GDP, 31% of India’s FDI, highest exports (excluding petroleum), and 25% of the country’s startups. He pointed out that industrial transformation is underway across Maharashtra – from Gadchiroli, which is on its way to becoming a steel hub, to Amravati developing the cotton-to-fashion value chain, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar emerging as the first smart industrial township and EV capital.

Fadnavis also mentioned Nashik as a new hub for defense and aerospace, while Pune-Navi Mumbai-Raigad are becoming centers of green technology, data centers, and innovation. The upcoming Vadhavan Port, three times the capacity of JNPT, will be connected to 20 districts and significantly reduce logistics costs.

The CM highlighted the ‘Mitra’ single-window system for investment facilitation and emphasized sustainable development, including afforestation in Gadchiroli, alternate fuel vehicles, and generating 52% of green energy.
