Reviews the Situation Arising Due to Heavy Rainfall
Mumbai, August 19: In view of the ongoing heavy rainfall across various parts of the state, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Jadhav-Patil today visited the State Emergency Operations Center at Mantralaya to review the situation caused by the excessive rains.
During his visit, Minister Jadhav-Patil gathered information about the current situation due to heavy rainfall, including flood conditions, transportation disruptions, crop damage, and the functioning of emergency services. He instructed that State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams should be deployed wherever necessary.
He further directed that people residing along riverbanks should be relocated to safer places immediately and that urgent measures should be taken to ensure their safety. The administration must act swiftly in this regard, he emphasized.
The Minister also instructed that immediate crop loss assessments (panchnamas) should be conducted for the rain-affected areas. Continuous monitoring of rivers, dams, and water levels should be maintained during the period of excessive rainfall. Preventive measures should be taken as needed, and coordination should be maintained with the Meteorological Department to ensure timely dissemination of weather forecasts to the public, he added.
Dr. Bhalchandra Chavan, Director of the State Emergency Operations Center, briefed the Minister on the current situation caused by the heavy rains and the relief and rescue operations being carried out.
